Label Lust: Sophie Hulme

29th Nov 2012

Sophie Hulme was on my list of ‘10 British Designers you ought to know’ for Strut 120. That and her win as the best emerging talent in accessory design at the British Fashion Awards last night prompted me to do a Label Lust post. Her collections are full of pieces that are beautifully made, classic with a masculine edge and totally wearable. Even though her clothes are making waves in the fash world, for me it’s still all about the totes and messenger bags that she first started the label with. Enjoy!

Trend Watch: The shirtdress

8th Oct 2012

The shirtdress is one of those key wardrobe staples that gets a spin every season. I’m loving the monochrome print maxi length take seen at Kallol Dutta and Aarti Vijay Gupta, the sheer panelling seen at Bodice & Nishka Lulla (I heart everything Ruchika Sachdeva does) and finally the gorgeous digital prints at Mary Katrantzou and Clover Canyon.

33 Pieces = Perfect Wardrobe

6th July 2012

I read a piece in Grazia a few weeks ago which quoted April Glassborow, head of womenswear buying at Harvey Nicks that says the perfect wardrobe can be achieved in just 33 pieces. This is split into 10 Tops, 10 Bottoms, 3 Dresses, 2 Bags and 3 Jackets and apparently this number of items can produce a staggering 3090 outfit options! I thought I’d give it a go and put together a summer wardrobe…and here it is….(yep- some of the items prices def sway to the ‘in my dreams’ category)
