Diwali bouquets from Appleyard London

20th October 2014

I really don’t know where the year has gone! I can’t quite believe its Diwali time again although I’m sooo not complaining. I love Diwali- family, friends, food, fireworks and festivities what’s not too love! I’ve noticed over here in the U.K Diwali celebrations are becoming bigger by the year. Who ever sent out Diwali cards before? Now there’s a whole section of cards in my local Waitrose alongside a fireworks counter!

So when the lovely florists at Appleyard London got in contact to share news of their Diwali bouquet range I thought I’d def have to share it on the blog. They kindly gifted me a bouquet too- I chose the gorgeous Jade bouquet, it was the rich reds and oranges of the Grand Prix Roses and Mango Cala Lillies that I thought were fitting with the colours of Diwali.

BIBI LONDON– that gem of a store I raved about last year has just expanded and now has an exclusive Bridal Lounge. Gorgeous Rohit Verma, Tarun Tahiliani and Shyamal & Bhumika pieces fill the Bridal Lounge in an explosion of regal reds, creams, blues and golds in rich velvets, silks, jacquards and georgette. Yep, it really is Bride heaven. I visited the boutique recently and took a few pics to share with you. A must visit boutique for any Brides-to-be!

Russian Tea Party at Mari Vanna

2nd March 2013

It’s the beginning of March and what better way to welcome spring and the upcoming festival of Maslenitsa then a fabulous Russian Tea party. Maslenitsa, the Russian Sun Festival has been celebrated in London for the last few years and this year’s programme of events looks very exciting. There’s an exhibition ‘Treasures of the Royal Courts: Tudors, Stuarts and the Russian Tsars’ at the V&A, a special pancake menu (the festival is also known as Pancake Week) at Russian restaurant Mari Vanna, a literary evening at Waterstones, a special performance by Theatre Praktika and of course the annual street festival celebrations at Trafalgar Square 16th March. For full details of the weeks events go to www.maslenitsa.co.uk

Here’s a few pics of the yummy decor and treats served at Mari Vanna.

The Angeli Foundation’s Manish Malhotra London Fashion Gala

27th Feb 2013

Grab a cuppa, this is going to be one looooonnng post! On Saturday night I went to the amazing Manish Malhotra gala show in aid of the Angeli Foundation. The fab event was held at the plush Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane. Guests were treated to a sensational catwalk of over fifty looks by the infamous Bollywood designer with special guests Urmila Matondkar and Pareenti Chopra. Even though most of the collection shown was first seen in India at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week over a year ago it was still amazing to see the designs in person. I’m keeping my intro short because it’s all about the pics! Enjoy! (My write up on the event for Grazia India is live too)

My personal highlights were the dreamy dip-dyes, delicate Chikankari work (which Manish has developed with NGO Mijwan Welfare Society), beautiful flowing full volume skirts and gorgeous sheer back detailing which included pintucks and placement embroideries.

Afternoon Tea at the Savoy

25th Sept 2012

I’ve been off the blog radar this last week as I’ve had two family weddings in Sept (one is continuing this week/weekend). I needed a couple of days just to sort all my saris, outfits, jewellery & bangles. I don’t exactly know when it happened but it’s become the norm for guests to change throughout the day and this has meant for one cousin’s wedding events I actually need(ed) SEVEN outfits/saris. All you Indian readers are like pah! Seven changes that’s nothing! Well it sent me into a mini-panic, I had to get the notebook out (yep did consider doing an excel spreadsheet) to list what’s being worn when and with what. Then I needed a day at the beauticians getting eyebrows and mani/pedi done. I’m telling you boys have it sooooo easy! I know I sound like I’m moaning but I do love all the pre-prep, its all part of the wedding fun and I certainly had a lot of that over the weekend. I have two days off (the events continue from Thurs) and I can’t be bothered to do anything! So I’m sat looking through the photos on my camera and I came across my pics from the Savoy and thought its time I share them! It was a yummy affair in a stunning environment- a perfect Mother and Daughters outing. I could do with a slice of that Victoria Sponge right now (and a glass of champagne wouldn’t hurt either!)

I’d rate the Afternoon Tea at the Savoy as one of the best in London (def better than Fortnum & Mason)
