My D.I.Y Engagement Thank you cards

6th June 2013

23 May 3

For my engagement party I ended up getting a little creative. I made a cake stand, some tissue paper floral centerpieces and the thank you cards. I thought I’d post some tutorials on how I got on and here’s the first- the D.I.Y Thank You cards. They were super easy to make, inexpensive and I enjoyed creating them.

thank you cards 1 I bought a plain pack of 50 A5 cards and envelopes from hobbycraft for £5.99 (I think that’s the right price) and a single gift wrap pack from WHSmith for £2.99 (again, I think that’s the right price) I then drew my love bird shapes onto tracing paper and traced over the images onto the plain side of the wrapping paper

thank you cards 2 I even traced the thank you writing so I’d get a similar look on each card.

thank you cards 3Then I glued down the love birds, traced the thank yous and then glued some sequins onto the card. (I just used whatever I had in my sewing box)

thank you cards 4My card making factory!

thank you cards 5There was some ribbon in the gift wrap pack so I glued a piece on to finish it off.

and that’s it all done

Shehla Khan’s latest campaign ft. Sonam Kapoor

26th Nov 2012

Festivities are over as is the amazing week ‘the boy’ (yep still can’t say fiancée-sounds too grown up!) and I had in Barbados. After my hol, I’m very much back and raring to go. I have lots of new ideas and exciting blog posts coming up so keep checking in! For now I have to share the pretty as a picture bridal campaign by Shehla Khan ft. of course bestie Sonam Kapoor. I’m a big fan of Khan’s elegant signature style of soft pastel shades, feminine cuts and vintage lace & embroideries.

The image above is my favourite; the blouse detail is just gorgeoussssss!

And if you’d like to know how to get bright coral lips like the shade Ms Kapoor regularly rocks, then check out the video I made with make-up supermo Dipali Damji. Click here!

Afternoon Tea at the Savoy

25th Sept 2012

I’ve been off the blog radar this last week as I’ve had two family weddings in Sept (one is continuing this week/weekend). I needed a couple of days just to sort all my saris, outfits, jewellery & bangles. I don’t exactly know when it happened but it’s become the norm for guests to change throughout the day and this has meant for one cousin’s wedding events I actually need(ed) SEVEN outfits/saris. All you Indian readers are like pah! Seven changes that’s nothing! Well it sent me into a mini-panic, I had to get the notebook out (yep did consider doing an excel spreadsheet) to list what’s being worn when and with what. Then I needed a day at the beauticians getting eyebrows and mani/pedi done. I’m telling you boys have it sooooo easy! I know I sound like I’m moaning but I do love all the pre-prep, its all part of the wedding fun and I certainly had a lot of that over the weekend. I have two days off (the events continue from Thurs) and I can’t be bothered to do anything! So I’m sat looking through the photos on my camera and I came across my pics from the Savoy and thought its time I share them! It was a yummy affair in a stunning environment- a perfect Mother and Daughters outing. I could do with a slice of that Victoria Sponge right now (and a glass of champagne wouldn’t hurt either!)

I’d rate the Afternoon Tea at the Savoy as one of the best in London (def better than Fortnum & Mason)
